BEFORE I BEGIN THIS STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO MAKE A PAPER BIRD. I WOULD LIKE TO WARN YOU ALL THAT I'M EXTREMELY BAD AT BOTH GIVING, AND TAKING DIRECTION. SO I HOPE THIS ALL MAKES SENSE, BECAUSE AT TIMES IT CAN BE COMPLICATED AND YET I DON'T REALIZE ANYMORE BECAUSE I'M USED TO MAKING THEM! HAHA.
FIRSTLY, TAKE A SQUARED SHEET OF PAPER WHICH YOU THEN FOLD FOUR TIMES, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.
NOW, DON'T BE CONFUSED, THIS IS THE SAME PAPER, JUST THE OTHER SIDE. WHAT I DID IS TAKE TWO OF THE OPPOSITE FACING CORNERS AND PUSHED THEM IN TOWARDS THE MIDDLE.
LIKE SO.
IT SHOULD THEN BE SHAPED LIKE A DIAMOND.
THEN, TAKE THE EDGES OF THE BOTTOM OF THE DIAMOND (THE PART WHICH OPENS)
AND FOLD THEM INTO THE CENTRE
IT SHOULD THEN LOOK LIKE THIS. IT STARTS TO GET A LITTLE COMPLICATED HERE, BUT BASICALLY, YOU UNFOLD THOSE PARTS AND ONE AT A TIME, FOLD THEM IN ON THEMSELVES USING THE FOLDED LINES AS DIRECTION. AS YOU CAN SEE, I HAVE DONE THIS IN THE IMAGE BELOW.
FINALLY, ONCE FOLDED, IT WILL START TO RESEMBLE A SMALL KITE.
YOU THEN TAKE THE BOTTOM OF YOUR KITE AND FOLD IT UPWARDS.
LIKE SO, ON BOTH SIDES..
THEN USING THE PARTS YOU RECENTLY FOLDED INSIDE, YOU START TO CREATE THE TAIL AND HEAD OF THE BIRD. YOU PUSH AND FOLD THE PAPER UPWARDS TO CREATE THE SHAPE ON BOTH SIDES.
ONCE DONE, THIS IS WHAT IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE. YOU SHOULD ALSO MAKE A LITTLE FOLD IN ONE END TO DISTINGUISH THE HEAD FROM THE TAIL!
AND THE BEST PARTS DECIDING WHAT YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR BIRD/BIRDS! THEY'RE GREAT DECORATION AND COST JUST PENNIES FOR PAPER. HERE'S AN EXAMPLE OF A FEW I HAVE MADE. USE NICELY PATTERNED PAPER AND THEY'RE GREAT TO HANG AROUND YOUR LIGHTS OR OVER YOUR BED. TRY IT!
THANKS FOR LISTENING, HOPE YOU GOT THE JIST!
